DialogBox
Posters are self-made: the text is painted (or "sprayed") in large size on a rigid support or on a fabric.
Car window placards and leaflets can be printed as is on paper.
The ideal is a dark blue text on a white background. Because blue with white are pacifying colors. But the ideal is not always within reach...
Don't hesitate to send a picture of your poster, of its making, or of your meeting with friends "barbecue-and-making-posters" to contact@dialog-box.org
It may be published on this site, in the "It's done!" tab. Also, send a short video of your action in the street "biscuit-drink-discussion-distribution-of-flyers".
About posters
Essential information
The contents of the posters, placards and leaflets are the results of scientific data. These texts do not contain any illegal phrases. Some countries, which are going down the dictatorial path (like England), are forbidding people to speak out about scientific data (related to covid). So find out what is in force in your country.
Your posters and placards are placed on your property. You must remain within the law, and not harm any public material or material belonging to others. If you are a tenant, post your posters in agreement with your landlord and lessor. If you don't have a place to put up the poster, don't hesitate to suggest to a friend to make the poster yourself, which he or she will display on their property.
If you have a balcony, it is good that the height of the poster and its length do not exceed the height and length of the balustrade (fence), for legal reasons.
String and body shop tape (the paper kind that tears by hand) leave less glue residue than plastic tape: think about it! However, body builder's tape can tear: do not use it if the poster is high up (it could fall down), but only if it is fixed on the first floor. Do not use wire either: it will scratch your fence or other supports with the movements of the wind.
As for the posters hanging along the facade, under your window: choose a cardboard or light plastic material with rounded corners, without danger in case of fall. Since they are not made of fabric, these materials do not fall under the regulations of landlords, condominiums or neighborhoods, which sometimes prohibit hanging clothes or fabrics to dry in the windows.
Information for the bricolator
For the support of the poster, the trick is to recover boards or thin rigid plastic used in some waste disposal. (The additional tip: if there are suspicions of fungus, rub with very salty water and let dry in the sun). ) You can also buy second-hand bed sheets or curtains, which make good rectangular supports for banners hanging from your gates.
Don't hesitate to organize outdoor barbecue-and-posters meetings with friends and children: it's fun!
Here's what was mentioned above about tape and string: go for string and body shop tape (the paper kind that can be torn by hand). They leave fewer traces of glue than plastic tape, which should be avoided. However, body shop tape can tear: do not use it on high places (the poster could fall down), but only if it is fixed on the first floor. So choose a strong string because it is suitable in almost all situations. Do not use wire either: it will scratch your fence or other supports with the wind.
About placards
The easiest way is to download the PDF of the placard, print it on paper and stick it on the rear windows of the car. In most countries, the law does not require visibility through the rear windows, nor through the trunk window (completely in the back). It is only the windshield and the two front windows that must remain transparent. (For example, vans sometimes have no windows at all in the back).
Yes, passers-by take the time to read out of curiosity. Let's not hesitate to write on a window "I am altruistic, I wish health for all, I make efforts. I just think, like tens of thousands of scientists, that the government forbids effective solutions and worsens the situation with harmful solutions. I don't agree with the catastrophic solutions chosen by the government, which make the situation worse by increasing contagions, severely covid patients and deaths."
About leaflets
It is possible to download them, print them and distribute them in mailboxes that allow advertising, or on restaurant tables with the agreement of the restaurant owner.
However, it is much more fruitful to discuss and give them out hand to hand. Do not hesitate to organize, with your friends, street sessions with cookies for passers-by, short discussions and distribution of leaflets. A cell phone or laptop with carefully selected videos will come in handy when you have the opportunity, as the conversation progresses, to show a few videos to someone who is interested.
